KING OF PRUSSIA? WHAT KIND OF NAME IS THAT ?
While most people in the region have heard of King of Prussia, we agree that it's kind of an unusual name for a town.
King of Prussia, a suburb about 30 minutes west of Philadelphia, is arguably best known as the home of the second largest shopping mall on the planet. It was the largest until they built the Mall of America just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The town was named for Frederick the Great, the King of Prussia in the mid 1700's. It is a suburban community at the intersection of many major routes, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the infamous Schuylkill (skool-kill) Expressway from Philadelphia.
Our offices in King of Prussia are just a stone's throw from Valley Forge National Historic Park, home of George Washington's army during the long and difficult winter of 1777-78. Some say the name was given to honor Frederick's support for George Washington during the American Revolution.
